Is HIV test really anonymous?

Are anonymous HIV test fully anonymous here, or do authorities find you via CCTV etc if you are positive?

Re: Is HIV test really anonymous?

I got a full std test non including hiv and all clear.
What are the chances of having hiv then? I'm very afraid of getting hiv because if its positive than my life is over.

I've only done capped and bbbj, but have razor cuts or freshly shaved area in the non capped area usually. I guess hiv can enter there.

All testing sites are obligated by law to submit your particulars to MoH if found positive.

You can remain anonymous as long as your results are -ve.
If the result comes out as +ve.... no way you can remain anonymous anymore. Every +ve case must be reported to MoH for follow up actions.

Bro only if you indicate to take anonymous test, regardless of test outcome its anonymous...doc can only advise patient to seek treatment if they turn out positive..the point of making it anonymous is to encourage those who are sexually active especially if they have more then one partner to "come out of the closet" to seek testing..many chose not to because of the stigma of been branded hiv positive..

I beg to correct your statement. Here in SGP doctors will lose their license if they fail to report any positive case. Initially it was just a directive from MoH later to be endorsed by the SMC which even put this requirement into stone by making it a punishable offence leading up to suspension and/or revoking the doctor's licence.
MoH took the cue from the SMC stsnce and eventually made it into statutory law. It is now a legal requirement for all medical personnel to report a positive case.... even for a supposedly anonymous test.

In simple layman lingo..... there is no such thing as Anonymous if ever your test result comes out positive.

Re: Is HIV test really anonymous?

I done it before in serangon..

so basically.. you go to the counter and said u want hiv annonymous test.

They will give u a special number .. no need id card ..
go in see doc.. do test..20min get result..
if negative u pay money and leave..
if positive test again i think.. then refer u to CDC.

You can read here:
, your doctor will give you your result slip. It will show you the type of rapid HIV test performed and the result of “Non-Reactive”, which may be given to you if requested.

If your result is reactive, you will be asked to provide a venous blood sample for further confirmation by a laboratory, using the Western Blot test. In addition, the confirmatory test is free of charge. However, the test may take up to two weeks. In other words, you will be consulted with proper medical advice. Then, you will be referred to the Communicable Disease Centre, whereby local or foreign specialists will help you.

the doctor only report the statistic to MOH, there's nothing much the doctor at anonymous clinic can do. are they going to demand the particulars from the patient? and call for police if they refuse to furnish the details?

most of the time, the patient will only reveal his/her hiv status is when they want to get cheap medicine from the public hospital, or use their medisave to pay for their medication.

What is anonymous HIV testing?
Anonymous HIV testing does not require you to provide any names, NRIC numbers or contact numbers. Instead, a number is usually assigned to the test which allows the person being tested to receive the test results. No personal particulars are recorded, even with positive results of the HIV tests.

You will be required to fill in an anonymous questionnaire so that you can provide more details about yourself but all details will be kept strictly confidential.

you will only be traced, if you are tested positive, and continue to lead an irresponsible sexual life, by infecting others. only then, you will be traced by the authority.

kindly stop instilling uncalled for alarm on those who wish to go for anonymous testing. at the same time, you are discrediting the effort of AFA and MOH to encourage people to go for more testing, to control the spread of the virus and allow them to seek early treatment.

at best, I found this.

which section you read that they need to report particulars?

For anonymous testing, they don't even know your personal particulars, how to report?

exactly, misinformation is not doing any good for those who wish to go for testing.

if the hiv+ person continue to infect others, the medical professional will have to trace for him through those whom the former had infected.

if the hiv+ practice his sexual life responsibly, no one will trace for him.
