Thanks for you advice, Derekc. But actually I am not a gambler. I went there because a Thai friend of mine works in the casino. Accommodation and food was free but I lost a small amount on playing 'horses'. However, if you are not the gambling sort, Poi Pet is quite boring. Nothing to do but watch people gamble, eat and drink the whole day. I was there when 9 Thais used electronic devices to win 95 million bahts from one of the casinos. They were caught after their fourth attempt (people are greedy). It was big news on Thai TV.
I agree with Lucifier that it is not advisable to give money to children who beg for money. If you give to one of them, you will be swarmed. Anyway, how many people can we help.
