When you're 18 that is absolutely true but as years go by sex becomes more of a routine than a thrilling encounter especially if it is with a regular partner.
Many older men will have stories about how they started thinking of other life issues, finances, health etc halfway through sex and this will inevitably cause a loss of erections. It's how the biology works.
