Thais generally don't want to disturb their friends and family with any bad news cos they 'greng jai'. If she tells you, she will make you worry.

Sorry to hijack this thread and ask something,

Really need some more experienced Samsters here for help,

I plan to get a legal married status in Thailand before i can apply for citizenship for my child to get his citizenship in singapore.

But i am unable to check what are the documents required to get married there in Thailand.

I know a need an Affirmity that proves i am eligible for getting married but i dunno where to get it , plus i need to translate in Thai language for the approval by the Foreign Ministry in Thailand. Some say i need pay slip i not too sure need anot.

But i hope Samsters here can help , best those to have been there and done it can help me with a step by step guide coz i quite stopid sorry.

Urgent replay need cuz i need to get it done asap.

Few more things to add :

Do i need to stay in Thailand for 21 days or something before i can register for marriage like foreigners coming to SG need ?

And how long is the process to obtain this affidavits or Freedom of Marry (SG or Thailand)?
Translation need how long and bring to where to certify in Thailand ???

What do i need to get done in SG before i go thailand ???

Charges would be helpful too guys.

She was crying coz her grandmother is in the hospital and she is in S'pore.
She is very closed to her grandmother and her parents are divorced.
Anyway she got a flight out to bkk liao...

The least you can do is to give her some pocket money for travelling expenses back to her home.

from what i know min. u must stay 3 days before u can register in thailand. best person to tell u about this is VMtech
