Story: Hall Happenings

I’ve always wanted to write a novel. Inspired by the other great storywriters here, I shall try to write something. Disclaimer: this story involves descriptive build up. The sexual parts will come

Fresh out of NS, guys usually look forward to life. The world’s their oyster they say. For most guys my age, the combination I had would have been a dream combination. Fresh out of army, having a spot in a local uni, having the independence and freedom. And of course the Hall Life that comes with the local uni experience.

Indeed that is the dream unless you are me. As luck would have it, or lack of it, I didn’t have the best army life. No elite unit like commando or NDU. I grew up knowing I had the leadership in me, but army didn’t think so. I didn’t get into OCS. I was just a man. A signaller to be exact. As much as it felt like consolation prize, I thought that at least it would have given me time to be at the gym and build the “army body”. Even that didn’t go my way as training and outfield exercises took much of my time. I left NS two years later having no “NS Bod”.

Getting a spot in a local uni would excite most guys with the possibility of meeting new people and expanding your network. Unless of course you know you would spend most of your course in front of a machine rather than humans. I would however eventually learn why being good with computers was a blessing for me.



I had applied for a hall stay even though I was not quite well to do. But thinking of the independence I would gain and tutoring to cover the expense was enough to motivate me to take it up. Of course, I could not afford a single room. So I started looking around for a room mate, hoping to not be paired with a random stranger or an international student. As if answering my prayers, I saw Jonas posting enquiring if any freshie were looking for a room mate. Jonas and I crossed paths during NS. When I first entered my unit, he was the outgoing PC. We spent three months working together and forged a good relationship. He was someone I looked up to, someone I wanted to be like. Well built, charismatic and smart. Wasn’t long before I reconnected and Jonas took me under his wing as part of the hall’s junior, freshie buddy programme.

At that point Jonas had a girlfriend. She studied at another local uni though, so they only met during the weekends. Some of you might start guessing where this might be going. Jonas was genuinely nice and often do things out of the kindness of his heart. He helped me move into hall and even helped me settle in.

Jonas: hey man, don’t be a stranger and be all formal around here ya. See you tomorrow at the start of hall camp alright?

Ahh. Hall camp. I’ve heard and read many things about them. Ever since I made the decision to stay in hall, this was one of the things I’ve looked forward to. Knowing more people. Knowing more girls too.

I woke up the next morning, realising that Jonas had not come back the night before. Must be busy planning for the camp, I thought. I got myself ready and walked hesitantly towards the MPH, the gathering point for the start of camp. The hall was buzzing with other early birds. All dressed in sports attire. The one thing I love about girls and sports attire. FBT shorts. I started looking around, trying to make sense of where to go. I had my blue bandana tied around my wrist. Each Freshie was given a colour prior to moving in. I guess it was to tell us which OG we belonged to.

“Hey Freddy, is that you?” Came a rather chirpy and familiar voice. I looked around in confusion trying to see who that voice came from. A tap on my shoulder and I turned to see Jamie. It must have been two years since I had last seen her but she still looked the same. “ omg I almost couldn’t recognise you. Confirm less nerdy than before” she added.

Jamie: Typical sporty girl. 158cm, tanned, 32A. Played floorball and enjoys swimming.

Jamie and I met back in poly. She was two years my junior. We met at Sports Club, a CCA where wannabe sportsman like me join to try out different sports once a month. Jamie was there just to try out different sports, and mainly cause the president of the CCA was her boyfriend back then. I always thought that Jamie was a cutie with her toned legs and braided hair. But I knew I stood no chance and so kept my distance, exchanging occasional hi or bye

Jamie pulled me to a group of people seated in a circle. I should have taken the time to check the group out, but my eyes were fixated on Jamie, and how she had grabbed me as though we were best buddies in poly. “ I managed to find another one! This is Freddy!” Jamie announced to the group as everyone in the circle looked my way and said hi in unison. I stood stiff, face as blank as a white sheet of paper. “ You two know each other? “ Jonas’ voice quipped. Jonas was the leader of the group. The rest of the morning went by in a blur as I was stealing glances at Jamie, still surprised at how she treated me as if we’ve been good friends since Poly. It was soon to be lunch break and we would have some time to head back to our rooms and rest.

Again I was snapped out of a daze when Jamie tugged at my arm, lifting her phone up high above us. “ Let’s take a selfie!” Before I could say anything she pulled me closer to her and snapped a few shots. I could not react as she pulled me close in and my arms crushed her boobs, “soft and nice,” I thought to myself.

“Quick what’s your insta username? Let me tag and add you” She added.

“@fredfriday” I replied her, still in a daze.

She chuckled and replied “ see you later, Fred Friday”

I took my prepacked lunch and went back to my room. Taking out my phone, I saw the notification and opened instagram. I started stalking Jamie’s profile to see what she had been up to lately. Most of her photos was of her or with some female friends. Guess she must have broken up with her boyfriend, I smiled quietly to myself. Suddenly the door to the room swung open. I quickly closed my Instagram app as if it was a page of pornhub. Not wanting others to know that I’ve been fixated on Jamie.

“ hey bro? How so far? Fun right?” It was Jonas, holding his packed lunch. We had a quick catch up about the morning activities.

“ Hey listen, I’ve a favour to ask you. Hope you’re bro enough” asked Jonas all of a sudden.

“ what’s up man? If you’re gonna make me do something humiliating, you know I’m not the most confident person right?” I replied.

Jonas suddenly bend forward closer to me, as if trying to not let anyone else hear what he was about to tell me. ( not that there was anyone else in the room).

“ Look, with all that’s been going on, camp prep and all, I haven’t met Nathalie since last week. She’s coming over later after the night’s activity. Could you look the other way? “ Jonas looked at me, his eyes pleading.

I miss hall days some of my best days

I knew what he wanted me to do. The hall had a no visitor policy after a certain time. This was all fine with me, no harm no foul. However I did not know if that was what he wanted.

“ Look man, I told you before that in camp you’re my officer, out of it, you’re my bro. As much as I want to let you have the room, at that hour I don’t know where I should hang out” I replied him.

“ Nah bro, you can be in the room. Not planning on anything la! Just wanted meet her, have some food together. Let me know what you feel like eating. I’ll ask Nat get for you!” Jonas replied with excitement in his eyes.

Nathalie was Jonas’ girlfriend. One year his junior. They’ve been together since JC. She’s 165cm, tanned netballer. They’ve been together since JC. I’ve met Nat a few times before when Jonas jio-ed me for dinner on my nights out. I must say she gives me the good Christian girl vibe. Despite us being close and even checking girls at the mall out together, Jonas has never shared his sex exploits with Nat. By the looks of it there were none for him to share.

Camping for more of Nathalie!

The rest of the day’s activities were of nothing special. Being more introverted, I did not really made much progress with getting to know the rest of the group. Jamie on the other hand was the star freshie, leading the way and catching the eyes of many OGLs, Jonas included.

All the energy expanded during the day really got me drained by the time the day’s activities ended. By the time I finished my shower and got back to my room, Jonas had managed to smuggle Nathalie into our room. They were seated at his study table, chomping down some supper.

Nat motioned to me, “Hey Fred! Come quick join us!”

Nathalie was in a training singlet and FBT shorts. I took the opportunity to check her out as I walked towards the table. I could see her baby blue sports bra through the arm holes of her singlet. Her long toned legs, teasing me with every step I took. Her hair was tied up in a nice ponytail. I saw that they were having cheese fries and nuggets. I took a piece of nugget, slowly taking my time to dip it in Chili sauce. All the while my eyes sneakily looking down the top of Nat’s singlet. I was silently cursing to myself, wondering how much better the view would have been had she worn a normal bra instead of a sports bra. Both Jonas and Nathalie seemed oblivious to my over dipping of nugget on sauce and my sneaky glance down Nat’s blouse. Or maybe Jonas was aware but was secretly enjoying it.

I dropped myself on the bed after the first piece of nugget, thinking of a strategy to check Nat out when I go to take the next piece. I placed my head on my pillow. The next time I opened my eyes, the room was dark. I must have fallen asleep the moment I had hit the pillow. It took me awhile to get adjusted to my surrounding. I was facing the room door as my bed was closer to the door and Jonas’ further in near the window.

“Mmpfh”

The sudden distinct sound from behind me alerted me. It sounded like Nathalie, I couldn’t be sure.

“Oh godd” this time round I was sure it was Nathalie. Thousand of scenario ran through my mind. Images ran through my head and I could feel myself hardening. Not wanting to spoil my chance, I plotted in my head at how I could be in a better position. Grabbing my pillow, I turned over, pretending to mumble something incoherent. I brought up the in hand and brought it up to cover half my face.

My sudden movement must have startled whoever was on the other bed, as I heard some shuffle. I kept my eyes closed all this while, trying to not give myself away. I had to play it smart no matter how tempted I was to open my eyes and see what was happening. I imitated a snore.. then another a few seconds later.

“ No la, he’s still asleep.” I heard Jonas saying.

“ You sure? “ I heard Nathalie’s voice questioning.

“ ya la, I know him from army days. When he sleeps, he can really sleep.. even in uncomfortable jungle or vehicle” Jonas reassured Nathalie.

“ you don’t want to continue meh.. can see you really enjoying” teased Jonas.
